Course Highlights:

 

Since its inception in 2002, the honours program in management (formerly BBA) has evolved, ensuring contemporary relevance. The department is presently known as Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S) with effect from the academic session 2017 -18, as per the requirements University Grants Commission (UGC), which called for a change in nomenclature following the UGC template.

The B.M.S. (HONOURS) program is unique given the core values it imparts in terms of Intellectual Depth, Real-world Business Skills, Leadership Skills, and Social Responsibility. The Xaverian approach to management education aims at the holistic formation of future leaders with unmatched professional competence and a robust ethical perspective. The curriculum is dynamic and broad and offers students the opportunity to be part of an academic program that is tailored to their ambitions and interests.

 

Course Objective:

 

The aim of the B.M.S. program is to offer high quality education in management and prepare students to

 

  • Acquire knowledge about management practices which facilitate them to become effective professionals.
  • Be competent in pursuing higher studies in diverse fields of Management such as Business Management & Administration, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Finance.
  • Be adequately trained to become entrepreneurs and communicate effectively. Develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning and research.
  • Acquire the required skills to develop business models and be responsible global citizens with cross-cultural competent behaviour and ethical values.

 

Class Timings:  

 

Monday - Friday: 4:00 pm to 8:05 pm (Classes are held in Campus)

 

 

Admission criteria for the academic session 2024-2025:

  • A candidate may be admitted to the course provided he/she has passed the Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) course conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, or an equivalent examination, recognized as such, by the University of Calcutta, in all the recognized subjects (of full marks not being less than 100) including English and Pure Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Applied Mathematics, subject to the fulfilment of the following other conditions.
  • No candidate shall be eligible for admission after a lapse of more than five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination. The year of admission will not be taken into account while calculating five years from the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
  • Prospective candidates seeking admission to the course will have to appear for an entrance examination. The entrance examination will be of one hour duration comprising of Multiple Choice Questions of fifty marks.

 

 

The mode of selection will be on the basis of the following weightage:

 

1.      Qualifying Examination (Class XII) (WBHS / ISC / CBSE / State Boards etc.) 50%

2.      Entrance Examination of full marks 50.

*Mathematics & Data interpretation will be based on the syllabus of class XII across all Boards.

 

Rules / Guidelines of the Admission Test:

  1. Candidates are advised to enter the examination centre at least 30 minutes before commencement of the test.
  2. Carry the following documents to enter the examination centre.
    1. A hard copy of Acknowledgement Card (original). Photograph pasted on the Acknowledgement Card should be duly attested by the Principal / Headmaster of the last school attended.
    2. A hard copy of Paid Bank/ Online payment slip (original).
    3. Any valid photo identity proof in original such as Aadhaar card/ Pan Card/ Passport/ Voter ID card.
  3. No candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall beyond the schedule time of commencement of the test under any circumstances.
  4. Candidates are not allowed to carry Calculator, Smart watch and any communication device like Mobile/ Smart phone etc. inside the examination hall. Any candidate found with such items will be reported against and his/her candidature will be cancelled.
  5.  No candidate can leave his/ her seat without permission of the invigilator until the test is over.
  6. Parents / Guardians are not allowed inside the College campus.
